I didn’t finish the game in time, but it was worth participating! 😅

This game was created for the first Brackeys Gamejam of 2026.

(And sorry if my English sounds a bit off; I'm not a native speaker).

ABOUT THE GAME

It’s my first serious and fully completed project. I decided to make it because I’ve been struggling with my mental health, and some family members and friends encouraged me to keep moving forward.

Yeah, my bad. I only managed to really focus on the project with just two days left (Actually, I believe it was much less — something closer to 20 hours.). This gave me little time to model, texture, and compose the tracks. Everything ended up a bit rough, but hey, the important thing is to participate! 😔

HELP

  • If the mouse doesn’t rotate, press the left mouse button (LMB) and rotate while holding it.
  • Select a combination of instruments within 3 seconds and shape the world around you.

Overview

So, “Hemophony” mixes “hemo” (blood, from the Greek “haima”) with “phony” (sound, also from the Greek “phone”). Basically, it’s “the sound of blood” and let me tell you, the game’s atmosphere takes that pretty seriously (everything happens in a world made of flesh, blood, and bones, with a strong Lovecraft vibe and that classic 80s body horror).

It's just a walker simulator about exploring a bizarre, otherworldly drifting building. The focus is less on complex game mechanics and more on wandering through surreal spaces, discovering their atmosphere and immersing yourself in the uncanny journey by using combinations of available musical instruments to open gates, cross platforms, and lower liquid levels.

The visuals go for that retro 3D style, just like PS1/PSX games, and my idea was to bring something different to the gameplay by putting music at the center of this strange universe.

Though I knew there wouldn’t be enough time, I truly wish I had created something larger. In the final hours of the jam, I decided to go with a walker simulator (the reason behind the name “Prelude”). I understand it’s not a big project and that you might grow disinterested quickly, but for me, it’s crucial to at least take part, push myself, and make connections with other developers and theme enthusiasts.

3D models and background music were created by me from scratch. Additional credits can be found in the footer bellow!
